| Maine Masonic College Notes |
| Acknowledging the mysteries and mystique surrounding 'The Craft', the author (a Mason) explores the history and symbolism of Freemasonry from the perspective of a layman trying to understand the organization. His explanations are understandable as they deliberately 'penetrate the jargon' that Freemasons so often use. His theories on the origins of the Craft have not been given wide praise yet they are, as presented, much more plausible than the current 'Templar Craze' genre. Recommended reading! ~Ed King |
| Summary |
This book was written to address the problems that arise from such a confusing state of affairs. It is not a simple exposé. It will not, as so many critics do, reveal alleged secrets without explaining what they mean. Too often these exposés claim to reveal secrets that have been kept for centuries, but in the end they merely repeat isolated clichés that have been published repeatedly in the past.
This "old news" contains little of importance, especially since its authors seem unaware of its significance. They take pride in publishing the notorious Mason Word but say nothing about what it means or how it is used. And all the other "secrets" get the same treatment. Instead of throwing out isolated passwords and gestures with no explanation, this book explores and details the whole story of Masonic secrecy. |
