Where we list 'some other stuff' that might be of interest....
The Masonic Society is a new organization that's quickly developing a loyal following - and with good reason! Formed in 2008, its founding members include a veritable who's who of Masonic writing and research. In less than a year, it has achieved some 500 members and now boasts a high-quality glossy magazine each quarter including a broad range of news and educational topics. The membership certificate is an extraordinary piece of art which many members have had professionally framed. A great added bonus is the members-only online Forum where there are some profound discussions on topics of interest to Masons without a lot of the chit-chat found in other online venues. Membership is strictly limited to those Masons who are members of Grand Lodges that are part of the Conference of Grand Masters of North America (Maine is!) and as a result, the internet gadflies and self-created so-called Masons who inhabit many of the other online venues are not a problem. Membership in TMS is a great bargain at $39 annually. You can find more information here. When you join, you'll see a couple of MMC Regents hanging around the forum as well!
The Scottish Rite Research Society
Indocti discant, ament meminisse periti.
Let the unlearned learn, let the experts love to remember.
Since 1991, the Scottish Rite Research Society (SRRS) of the Southern Jurisdiction has become a dynamic force in Masonic research today, pursuing a publication program emphasizing quality—both in content and physical form. While it has its administrative offices at the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C., it is open to all. We encourage anyone interested in deepening his or her understanding of Freemasonry to become a member. The reasonable price of $51 includes a bound volume sure to be of interest along with a bonus book that has never ceased to amaze (including such works as "Albert Pike's Lectures on Masonic Symbolism"). It's well worth the price and many new members after seeing their first volume quickly seek to purchase an entire set! You can sign up here and tell them the Maine Masonic College sent you....
Quatuor Coronati Research Circle
Their web site would be considered dazzling - if this were 1992. That notwithstanding, Quatuor Coronati Lodge #2076 in England is the world's oldest and arguably the most well-respected Masonic Research Lodge in the world. Their annual transactions are eagerly awaited by Masonic scholars world-wide and reflect an intense dedication to the deep innards of Masonic research. These volumes are collectors items and you will refer to them again and again during your Masonic career. Start a subscription early and you'll appreciate it more and more as time passes. There's a $12 joining fee and a $30/year annual dues but their AQC (Ars Quatuor Coronati) volumes are well worth it. Many members opt for the hardbound versions knowing that they'll be used for a lifetime. There's a PDF application to download and mail (no online application, sadly) but afterwards, our local Secretary in Maine, Bro. Richard Rhoda from Houlton, will deal with annual dues matters. You can find their web site here. It's really worth joining!
The Masonic Book Club
One of the true 'secrets' of Masonic research is the Masonic Book Club who, since 1970, have been republishing extraordinary works long out of print. No cards to return or minimum number of books to pay. They publish ONE BOOK each year. These truly wonderful 'gems' are sure to please and the price is so remarkably low, you'll think it's the best $20 you'll spend on Masonic knowledge. In addition, there's often a BONUS book: sometimes current and sometimes a Masonic classic. Even without that, your money will be well spent on this membership. It's a gem. Again, no online membership signup but you can find out more by heading to http://www.masonicbookclub.org Sign up today!
